Two years and five months is what it’s taken us to secure promotion into the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2024/2025 season.

A 2-0 victory over Madiba in the Nigerian National League (NNL) 2023/24 Super 8 playoff, our first win in three meetings over the Oshodi boys ensured that Ikorodu City will be in the draws for the 2024/2025 season of the NPFL.

After finishing top of the Conference B in the regular season, we qualified for the Super 8 playoffs, facing other southern conference teams in Inter Lagos, Beyond Limits and Madiba.

A 1-1 draw in the opening game against Inter Lagos followed by same result against eventual NNL 23/24 champions, Beyond Limits, meant we had just two points from two game. Sitting in third position with Beyond Limits on top with 4 points, followed by Madiba with 3 points and Inter Lagos were 4th with 1 point.

Needing only a win to gain promotion into the top flight on the final group match day, the boys lived to the billing with Ajeyigbe Toheeb scoring in the first half to give us a slender lead.

Toheeb then sealed it with a lovely lob over the goalkeeper in the second half to send the entire bench into a frenzy as we held on to a win and qualified for the 2024/25 season of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Beyond Limits who won the title were the second team from the Southern Conference to gain promotion while Nasarawa United and El Kanemi Warriors made a return to the NPFL from the Northern Conference after finishing top two in their group.
