This weekend marks our sixth league outing of the campaign, and only the third time we’ll be stepping out at the Arena this season.
Matchday 5 did not go our way. A 4-2 defeat to Niger Tornadoes in Minna brought our unbeaten run to an end. But there’s no time to dwell on that, we have parked that result and turned our focus to what comes next.
Next up is Enyimba on Sunday evening — still unbeaten, just like Rivers United. For us, the mission is simple,to bounce back, find our edge again, and prove our strength as a team.
Facing Enyimba FC
There’s no questioning the scale of this game. The atmosphere will be fierce, the energy high, and the football worth watching. We met Enyimba twice last season, a 2-1 defeat in Aba and a 2-2 draw at the Arena, and those memories still linger.
This season, we want to tilt the head-to-head in our favour. That starts on Sunday evening, with nothing else on the agenda but a win.
Enyimba sit top of the table heading into Matchday 6, unbeaten with three wins and two draws. But their record doesn’t shake us. Our job is simple, to win. And if history has shown anything, it’s that we know how to rise when the odds are against us.
This Sunday won’t be any different, we will step up and deliver.
Team News
James Faith remains sidelined through injury, while Ayomide Cole is set to miss the game after coming off injured in Minna last weekend. Aside from that, the rest of the squad is available for selection.
