The start of the second half of the Nigeria National League (NNL) 2022 season fixture, saw Ikorodu City FC welcome Campos FC of Owerri who they last played before the break.
The first encounter ended 1-1 and with mid-season signings done, Coach Abiodun Obafemi, made about five changes to the team that handled the last outing.
LINE UP: GK: Amah John; Sebastine Godwin, Musa Habeeb , Gabriel Adewara, Harrison Austin; Gafar Ojo, Muiz Tajudeen, Godwin Odibo, Salami Ismail; Farouk Salami & Anthony Okachi.
The first half started quietly with Ikorodu City having the giant share of possession, but not failed to creat clear cut chances, until a free kick late in the first half.
The opening goal of the reverse fixture was scored by Gabriel Adewara with a powerful long range strike, the same way, hitting a rocket past the wall and goalkeeper to give us the lead into the break.
That was Gabriel’s third goal of the 2022 NNL season, and all three have come directly from set pieces. He’s a master of it.
The second half resumed just like the first, only with more urgency from the visitors, who were content with being level initially but now needed a response.
It was looking like a win for the home side until goal keeper John Amah came off his line, for a ball and was caught out, as the visitors drew level and held on.
Taheer, Tosin, Waliu and Paul all came on as we searched for a winner but wasteful efforts from goal scoring opportunities, meant we started the second half of the season with a point and now head back to prepare for a trip to Ekiti United over the weekend for matchday 13.
