As we look to begin our second year journey in the NNL tomorrow, team vice captain Ojetoye Waliu, head coach Sadiq Dabiri and Assistant coach Bright Ozebagbe faced the media ahead of the season opener.


We face FC Ebedei in the NNL Southern Group B3 opener in a season that will see the winner of the group qualify for the Super 8 mini tournament.
The coaches and the team vice captain answered questions on the readiness of the team for the new season.

Team Vice Captain, Ojetoye Waliu answered on
How prepared the players are for the new season…

“I will say we are all prepared. We played lots of games in preseason against the likes of Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan and Gateway United, so I can say we are fully prepared.”

On how good the relationship between the old and new players is….
“In every club, players come and go. So We (old players) are having a very good relationship with the new players, both on and off the pitch.”

Head coach, Sadiq Dabiri was asked
How prepared the team is for the new season….
“We are well prepared, very well prepared to start the season tomorrow. The players are in good spirits to start the game tomorrow.”

On injuries….
“We are all good to go tomorrow. Everyone is fit for selection.”

Assistant Coach, Bright Ozebagbe was quizzed on
How easy Group B3 looks on paper….
“Football is not played on paper. We will have to respect every team. Every team is as good and that’s why they are here so we will take every match as it comes.”

Losing some players from last season and if the new players can fit in well….
“Yes they can. We have brought in some new players and we have had a good preparatory prgrammes to prepare the team for the season. The results have been commendable so far so we are ready to go with the new players.”

On the team’s branding….
“Branding goes a long way for the team. It motivates and brings in more investors for the club.”


On working to get promoted to the NPFL….
“We have to take every game (as it comes). We are in this division for now, so we will do what we have to do before we think of playing in the premier league.”


We take on FC Ebedei at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan tomorrow 21st March, 2023 at 4pm.
